Project Specialists Ltd - Excavation Company

A family-owned excavation company with more than 20 years behind it

Project Specialists Ltd is a family-owned earthworks and civil contracting business serving Tauranga, Katikati and the wider Bay of Plenty.

The company began more than 20 years ago after working on oil company projects and deciding to build a business around doing the work properly, maintaining high standards and taking greater responsibility for the finished result. Fuel-sector work came first, with
civil contracting and residential earthworks growing alongside it.

Today, the team works across excavation, site preparation, drainage, concrete,
engineered retaining walls and larger civil projects. Private work stays predominantly within the Bay of Plenty, while specialist fuel-sector projects can take the team throughout the North Island

Every quote starts with a proper site visit

Access, ground conditions, existing surfaces and the overall scope can be difficult to judge properly from photographs or plans alone. We prefer to see a site before putting a price together.

A site visit gives us the opportunity to understand what is required, talk you through the proposed work and identify anything that could affect the price or programme before we begin.

That direct approach continues throughout the project. Project Specialists remains a small, hands-on team, with clear communication between the people pricing, planning and completing the work.
Project Specialists Ltd - Fuel Sector

Experience built on difficult and demanding projects

Years of working in the fuel industry helped shape the way Project Specialists operates today. Those projects require careful planning, strong health and safety practices and sites that remain tidy and controlled throughout the work.

That same discipline now carries across residential and commercial
earthworks and civil projects.

It also means the team is comfortable taking on work that is technically difficult, heavily engineered or challenging to access. Rather than positioning ourselves as specialists only in large industrial jobs, we bring that experience to everyday driveways, site preparation, retaining walls and civil projects across the Bay of Plenty.

A reputation built one project at a time

Project Specialists generally focus on one main project at a time, with smaller work fitted around unavoidable waiting periods only where it will not delay the primary job.

The philosophy is simple: under-promise and over-deliver. Quotes are based on what we can reasonably assess at the outset, and if something changes during the work, it is discussed as it happens.

Our own machinery is maintained and planned around each project, with any additional plant or subcontractors arranged before they are needed.

Project Specialists holds ISNetworld health and safety prequalification, and client references are available on request. The team also supports its local community, including helping with an AED installation at a local school.

Five reasons to choose Project Specialists Ltd

More than 20 years of experience

Experience across residential earthworks, civils and demanding fuel-sector projects gives the team a broad understanding of how to plan and deliver work properly.

Family-owned and hands-on

Project Specialists remains a small team, so the people planning your project stay close to the work and know what is happening on site.

One main project at a time

The team generally stays focused on one primary job until completion, rather than spreading attention across multiple major sites.

Plant and people planned ahead

Main machinery is owned and maintained, and hired gear, subcontractors and materials are organised before we start, so hold-ups do not eat into your timeframe.

Straightforward communication

If conditions change, a variation is required or something may affect the programme, it is discussed during the job rather than saved until the end.
